Smiles of Orphans and the Needy Brighten the BERLEBARAN Program; KPB Brings Joy Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447H

Wednesday, 11 March 2026

Happy smiles lit up the children’s faces as they chose the Eid outfits they wanted at a shopping center in Balikpapan on Monday (March 9). This simple moment brought special joy to orphans and the underprivileged as they prepared to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

This joy was brought about through the Energizing Others “BERLEBARAN” (Sharing the Blessings of Eid Clothes) initiative organized by PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) as part of the Energizing Our Iman 1447 Hijri program series. This program embodies the company’s commitment to sharing happiness with the communities surrounding its operational areas, particularly with children from underprivileged families.

A total of 70 orphans and underprivileged children aged 7 to 14 participated in this event. They came from various areas near the company’s operational sites, including Margomulyo, Baru Ulu, Baru Tengah, Baru Ilir, Margasari, Karang Jati, Prapatan, Muara Rapak, and Kariangau. In a warm and joyful atmosphere, the children were given the opportunity to personally select Eid al-Fitr attire—such as shirts, pants, and shoes—to wear during the celebration of the day of victory.

Asep Sulaeman, Vice President (VP) of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, stated that this activity is part of the company’s commitment to continuously provide tangible benefits to the communities surrounding its operational areas, particularly during the Ramadan season, which is rich in values of compassion and togetherness.

“Through this BERLEBARAN program, we aim to bring simple joy to the children living near us so they too can experience the excitement of welcoming Eid al-Fitr. This activity also serves as a manifestation of KPB’s care for the community while fostering a spirit of sharing and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

The warmth of the event was further enhanced by the participation of 43 volunteers from PT KPB’s management team, who accompanied the children throughout the process of selecting Eid supplies. The volunteers helped choose the right clothing sizes, walked with the children around the store, and ensured the activity proceeded comfortably and joyfully.

One of the volunteers, Dede Zulfikrisyah, admitted that he felt happy to be directly involved in the activity and to witness the children’s enthusiasm while selecting their Eid outfits.

“Seeing the children’s smiles and enthusiasm while choosing their Eid outfits brings us volunteers a special kind of joy. This simple moment feels deeply meaningful because we can share happiness while accompanying them in welcoming the holiday with great joy,” he said.
