PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) concluded the 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N) series with a safety seminar that reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening the HSSE culture in the workplace, particularly in support of the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) National Strategic Project (PSN).
Under the theme “Strengthening Leadership Accountability and Employee Compliance in Building an Inclusive, Collaborative, and Sustainable Pertamina HSSE Culture,” the BK3N series served as a momentum to reinforce the awareness and responsibility of all employees in making occupational safety and health a top priority in every operational activity.
The closing ceremony was attended by management from the Infrastructure Projects Directorate of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), PT PPN RU V Balikpapan, representatives from the East Kalimantan Provincial Department of Manpower and Transmigration, and officers from PT KPB.
In his remarks, PT KPB President Director Bambang Harimurti emphasized that the National OSH Month serves as a crucial reminder for all workers to consistently prioritize safety as the cornerstone of every work activity.
“This National OSH Month serves as a reminder that safety is the cornerstone of business sustainability, while also supporting the development of the Balikpapan RDMP,” he stated.
In its implementation, PT KPB continues to promote the consistent application of the 9 Mandatory Behaviors and 10 Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) as safety standards that all workers in the project area must adhere to. Additionally, workers are encouraged to exercise Stop Work Authority (SWA)—the authority to halt work if conditions or behaviors that could pose safety risks are identified.
Through this approach, the company fosters a shared sense of responsibility so that every worker feels confident to remind others or intervene regarding potential hazards in the workplace.
“Let us pledge to ourselves to be more mindful, more courageous in intervening, and consistent in upholding a safety culture,” he added.
Throughout the implementation of BK3N 2026, various activities were held to strengthen understanding and workplace safety practices within the project environment. These activities included a blood drive as a form of social responsibility, a written K3 system test to assess workers’ understanding of safety procedures, and first-aid refresher training to enhance workers’ readiness to provide first aid in emergency situations.
Additionally, KPB organized an SLP Champion workshop to strengthen workers’ leadership roles in workplace safety, a “K3 Champion” competition to encourage innovation and best safety practices, and inspections for prohibited items to ensure compliance with safety regulations on the project site.
Risk control efforts also included emission tests on operational vehicles to ensure project vehicles continue to meet safety and environmental standards. Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS and TB awareness campaigns, as well as K3 seminars, were held to raise workers’ awareness of health as a critical component of workplace safety.
KPB also implemented the SI Paling CLSR program, an internal campaign encouraging workers to consistently apply critical safety rules in their daily activities within the project area.
Asep Sulaeman, Vice President of Legal & Relations at PT KPB, stated that the BK3N commemoration serves as a crucial opportunity to strengthen compliance and collective awareness among all workers regarding the importance of workplace safety.
“The implementation of OSH is not merely a regulatory obligation, but a shared commitment to protecting every worker while supporting the operational sustainability of the Balikpapan RDMP,” he concluded.
